This detailed research provided an evidenced-based assessment of the national greenhouse gas emissions of 25 different building types, the count of these building types, the total floor area of each in each state and territory, and reference national-average fuel intensity values. These metrics led to a ranking of potential expansion options for NABERS. Building types assessed included supermarkets, manufacturing facilities, agriculture and aquaculture buildings, private hospitals, cool stores, entertainment and recreation (sub-types), religion buildings, medical centres, universities, TAFEs, airport terminals, galleries, sports centres, aquatic centres, community centres, museums, child care and early learning centres, libraries, student accommodation, boarding houses, storage facilities, courts, cemeteries and crematoria, train stations and ambulance stations.
